Does anyone have trophies, medals, etc., that they no longer want? Instead of throwing them away or hiding them in the loft, would be very grateful to receive them so they can be recycled for prizes for juniors on a local basis.
The Southern Counties Pétanque Association is one of a dozen or so geographic divisions of the English Pétanque Association (EPA), devoted to promoting the sport of Pétanque. Commonly known as French Boules, the game has an enthusiastic following in the UK where it is truly a family sport, appealing to young and old and to both men and women equally.
A warm welcome to you all from the Southern Counties Pétanque Association.
As one of fourteen regions within the English Pétanque Association, the SCPA covers Hampshire, West Sussex, Dorset as well as parts of Surrey and Wiltshire.
If you are looking for a sport that provides a good social atmosphere, but also instils a competitive edge, then this could well be what you are looking for. One of our objectives is to organize a variety of competitions throughout the season. These range from singles to mixed adult and junior competitions through to the regional qualifying series. There is also a comprehensive league structure.
Many clubs in our region cater for the beginners through to experienced internationals. We have a number of players, including juniors, who have gained International honours.
So, if you are young or just young at heart, there is a club for you and a level of competition that you are looking for. This is a sport where young people can play with older people on an equal footing. Have a look through our list of affiliated clubs and see if there is one close to you. They will all make you feel wanted and help you to enjoy our sport.
