At this year’s competition held at Brean Sands, Weston-super-Mare, on 8th and 9th September, the Southern Region finished in 3rd place. The final placings listed below shows how close it really was:

Just one more win and the Southern Region would have been the Inter-Regional Champions! Every team and every player in the squad will have their own views on where that elusive victory could have been achieved. The list below of the individual team performances may give some indication.

Team Manager, Elwyn Morgan, commented: “I must congratulate all the squad in the way, generally, they battled, even if at times they did not quite succeed. The will to win was, I think, epitomised by the RAPD team, who only having won 2 out of 7 games on the Saturday, came back to win all 5 on the Sunday. We did manage to beat the SE Region 6-3 in the last round and thus prevent them from winning 3 years in succession. Regrettably it was not quite enough to enable us to take the crown.”
